Fishing is always unpredictable, and that's precisely what fascinates so many. Trout fishing is a fun and active pastime that anyone can participate in.
Catch your own dinner
We primarily stock rainbow trout and golden trout in sizes from 1–5 kg, several times a week, when the water temperature is below 18 degrees. Our Kids' Lake offers fun trout fishing all year round.
During summer, when the water temperature is high, our trout fishing in the main lake is significantly more challenging. This is because the trout become less active in the warm water. However, the fishing becomes noticeably better again when the temperature drops.
You can fish with small spinners, lures, soft plastic worms, earthworms, and much more. The most popular method in Put & Take, however, is fishing with a float and bait – often with the popular bait product Powerbait.
Trout Fishing Rules
- All trout species may be caught and taken home. All other fish species must be released (sturgeon, carp, catfish, tench, pike, crayfish, etc.)
- You may fish with one rod per fishing permit
- You may fish with one hook per rod
- It is not permitted to pre-bait before or during trout fishing, and you may not fish with live bait (worms are permitted)
- Trout must be killed immediately after being caught and taken home
- Fish swimming by the shore may not be caught with a net – they must bite the hook themselves
- Fish may only be gutted at the gutting table and not in the lake
What can you catch?
Rainbow Trout
The most common trout in the lake. Stocked regularly in sizes from 1–5 kg. A classic and flavourful food fish.
Golden Trout
A beautiful variant with a golden colour. Rarer than the rainbow trout, and a special catch to land.
Tips & Tricks for Trout Fishing
Powerbait
The most popular bait for Put & Take. Available in many colours in the shop. Form a small lump like a teardrop and let it cover the entire hook. When you get a bite – wait about 5 seconds with a free line before striking.
Spinners & Lures
Active fishing method that covers more water. Good for finding active fish. Use size 2–3. Remember to let the bait sink for a few seconds before retrieving.
Worms
Earthworms are a classic. Thread the entire worm onto the hook and fish with a float at a depth of about 1.5 metres.
Water Temperature
Trout are most active when the water is below 18 degrees. Morning and evening are often best when the water approaches this temperature.
Circulating Water
At Poppelsøen, it can be worthwhile to fish in front of one of our three circulating pumps, where trout often congregate. Here, your bait also becomes more attractive – especially when fishing with Powerbait.
Patience
Change fishing method and depth if you don't get a bite after 20–30 minutes. Fish often stay at specific depths and react differently to methods. Pop by the shop – we are always ready with good advice and tips for the day's fishing.
The Kids' Lake
It's motivating for children to fish in a manageable lake, where there are excellent chances of a catch. The Kids' Lake is stocked with smaller rainbow trout weighing 0.5–3 kilos, which gives young anglers an exciting and educational experience.
For safety reasons, only single hooks are allowed in the Kids' Lake. Fishing with a float and Powerbait is the only permitted method and also a popular way for children to fish.
Remember that you need to purchase a separate fishing permit for the Kids' Lake. The permit can only be purchased during kiosk opening hours and is not valid for fishing in the main lake. You can also rent a pre-rigged rod during the shop's opening hours.
Rules for the Kids' Lake
- The fishing permit is only valid for the Kids' Lake – not the main lake
- Only children under 12 years accompanied by an adult. Children must be supervised at all times
- Max 1 guest per purchased fishing permit
- Fishing permits for the Kids' Lake can only be purchased during kiosk opening hours
- You may only fish with a single hook size 10, bomb float, and Powerbait.
- All trout must be taken home – no release
