About sturgeon fishing

How to fish for sturgeon

Sturgeon is a slow-growing fish that can live up to 100 years. It swims along the bottom, hunting for its food – which is why you should fish at the bottom. It sucks in its prey by protruding its mouth like a vacuum cleaner.

Sturgeon fishing requires heavy-duty equipment – rod, line, and reel that meet our rules. You can find everything for sturgeon fishing in our tackle shop, or you can rent a pre-rigged rod for only DKK 60.

When a sturgeon bites, it's often revealed by small tugs on the rod tip – strike immediately. Sturgeon fight hard and provide an intense, action-packed battle.

Why are sturgeon released?

  • They serve as an attractive sport fish.
  • They grow slowly and are expensive to stock.
  • They are not intended as food fish.
  • They can live in the lake for many years.
